Section titled “Instructions”- 1PrepPreheat your oven to 180°C and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- CreamIn a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar together using a whisk or electric mixer until the mixture is pale and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- 3EmulsifyAdd the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Beat on medium speed until fully combined and smooth.
- 4Dry IngredientsSift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Use a spatula to fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined - be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cookies tough.
- 5FoldGently stir in the chocolate chips by hand until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- 6PortionDivide the dough into 12 equal-sized balls (roughly 2 tablespoons each). Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving at least 2 inches of space between each ball to allow for spreading.
- BakeBake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly soft. They will firm up as they cool.
- CoolLet the cookies sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
